Mary Charles Hooks was born on April 17, 1937 in Rowletts, Kentucky. She was born to Mother Lucille Richardson and one month later adopted to Josie and Russell Moore. When mother Josie passed away, the family moved to Platteville, Colorado in 1945 where Aunt Annie and Russell owned a farm.  Mary enjoyed the farm animals and country life. She loved her pet pig named ‘Baby’, two rabbits ‘Debbie’ and ‘David,’ and dog ‘Tippy.’ Russell later moved his sister - Aunt Annie and Mary to Fort Lupton, Colorado where he worked as a Mechanic.  Mary continued to stay in touch with her family in Kentucky through Summer visits with grandmother Richardson and cousins over the years.

Mary attended grade school in Platteville, Colorado, then at Whittier elementary and later Manual High school in Denver.  Mary found her passion in health care, she continued schooling and earned her medical assistant degree. Mary worked in nursing homes and later found her career at Salud Clinic in Fort Lupton.  Mary cared for and touched the hearts of many patients and co-workers over the years. She commuted 60 miles daily for work and gave unconditional love and care to her young patients for 32 years and 10 months at which she retired from Salud Clinic.

Mary was truly a gift to all who met her; her kind and generous heart touched everyone.  Mary had an unconditional love and caring spirit that went beyond her nursing career, which deeply touched all of her friends and family.  Mary was a humble, soft-spoken woman that read her Bible and maintained her relationship with her Creator and His Son Jesus Christ.  She loved her sons and grandchildren with all of her heart. Mary enjoyed traveling particularly cruises and attending family reunions over the years. She also especially had fun at the casinos of Las Vegas and Black Hawk while sipping on her favorite beverage - Pepsi. Mom was affectionately known by her grandchildren as ‘Maw  Maw’ had a huge adoration for cats.
