Donald Tracy Schoonover, 80, was Born May 12, 1940 in Hornell, NY to Claude and Agnes Schoonover. He went home to be with his Lord on February 10th, 2021 after a long struggle with Diabetes and died of heart failure. Don grew up in Buffalo, NY and moved to Loveland, CO in 1977 where he resided until his death.
Don is survived by his wife Susan, his sons Dan (wife Lori) and Stephen (wife Diane), and his daughter Debbie. He has 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Don worked for 20 years managing the tool crib for Hach in Loveland and continued to work into his late 70’s delivering dental replacements and equipment. He would joke about being the “Tooth Fairy”. He enjoyed his work and meeting new people.
Dad loved his pets, hotrods, the Rockies, NASCAR and being in the mountains. He took many camping trips and spoke often of his fishing trip to Alaska. The family remembers living in NY as kids taking trips into Canada and spending the day at a beach, park, or at Ft. George along Lake Ontario. Dad was always thinking ahead, cooking lunch on the engine of the car so it would be ready when they arrived. One of the first camping trips the family took after moving to Colorado in 77’ was to Yellow Stone National Park in Wyoming. Dad enjoyed taking pictures of wildlife.
Dad loved all types of music. He introduced Dan to Led Zeppelin at age 12. He also enjoyed local live music and concerts with the family such as BB King, Faith Hill and Diana Krall.
No services are planned per his wishes.
